"Professor, would you tell me what a HORCRUX is?"
Name: Emma
Age: 17
Gender: Witch
Referred By (if applies): Elle_S_Shadow

1. What is/was your favorite subject in school and why?
Psychology and History. Psychology because learning about the human mind and the way people behave and why is really interesting. History because I’ve always enjoyed learning about the past, specifically ancient and world history. I always found the histories of ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, etc., were fascinating. Also, I think understanding the past helps us to better interpret the present and shape a better future.

2. What would be your favorite subject at Hogwarts and why?
Charms. Most of them are there to make life easier (Accio, Evanesco, etc.), and being able to make things come to me and spills/messes to disappear would be wicked. Like, in OOTP, I thought it was totally awesome that Tonks just had to wave her wand and everything just flew into Harry’s trunk.

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I don’t want to change. I like exactly who I am. I’m happy with my personality, the way I look, etc.

4. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I would end poverty. It is really saddening that people still sleep on dirt floors in some parts of the world rather than a nice bed. It’s terrible that while some people are eating, they’re wondering where the next meal is going to come from. I want everyone’s basic needs to be met, at least.

5. Which Harry Potter character can you relate to the most and why?
Hermione, to a degree. I pretty much stick to the rules (but breaking them can be fun) and I concentrate on my studies (but I don’t slave over them/worry about every test like Hermione does).

6. Which non-Harry Potter character can you relate to the most and why?
I have yet to read a book where a character actually relates to me. The only thing I can think of is Bella from the Twilight series, by Stephenie Meyer. Bella and I both drive crappy old trucks (but they have personality!) that were given to us. However, Bella has had much more luck in the love department. But yeah, no one relatable comes to mind.

7. Pick one quality from each of the four houses that you possess and explain why.
Gryffindor: Courage. I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in, and I do my best to face difficult situations with courage and valor.
Hufflepuff: Loyalty. I am a very loyal friend and I will stick up for my friends, no matter what. I will always be there for them.
Ravenclaw: Wit. I am VERY witty. Not a day goes by that I do not make some kind of witty remark.
Slytherin: Ambition. I’m extremely ambitious; I have many goals that I want to achieve and I will do almost anything to reach them.

8. Which house do you think you belong in and why?
Gryffindor. I’ve always wanted to be in that house, ever since I read the first book. I feel like I’d just belong in that common room hanging out with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, etc. But I think that the Sorting Hat would have trouble with me like it did with Harry; I think I would fit in with the Slytherins, too, and do exceptionally well there.

9. Which house do you feel you'll never belong in and why?
Hufflepuff. You have to have tolerance to be in that house, and I’m not exactly tolerant of everyone; I can’t be friends with everyone or pretend to like everyone. I have no tolerance for some people and I wouldn’t be able to pretend to.

10. Which Harry Potter book do you like the best and why?
4, 6, and 7. I read GOF so many times because the triwizard tasks were just so cool! HBP was freaking amazing. Who doesn’t like reading about Harry and Dumbledore going on an adventure through a dark cave to destroy a horcrux surrounded by a lake filled with inferi?! And DH was simply amazing too. I know a lot of people weren’t happy with it, but I loved every minute of it. I bawled so many times. DH was just the end to a very long journey. I was glad that the story culminated the way that it did.  (Except for the infamous epilogue, LOL)

11. Which Harry Potter movie do you like the best and why?
OOTP. The scene in the Department of Mysteries where everyone is dueling by the archway is SO FREAKING COOL. And I think that Ralph Fiennes did an AMAZING job in the scene where he dueled with Dumbledore. They just keep getting better and better! (With the exception of POA. I was SO disappointed when they totally cut out most of the dialogue between Lupin, Sirius, and Harry in the Shrieking Shack.)

12. What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
Me standing hand-in-hand with a rich, handsome, talented wizard. Basically, what I want most is someone to be with for the rest of my life. And I’d prefer them to be rich and handsome.

13. If you came across a boggart, what would it transform into?
Like Mrs. Weasley, my biggest fear is losing my family. So it’d probably turn into the dead bodies of my parents or sisters.

14. Which Harry Potter character is your least favorite and why?
Blaze Zambini. He was just a jerk. I also wasn’t very fond of Umbridge, for obvious reasons. But I liked most of the characters, including the evil ones, because they all had personalities and good characterization.

15. If you were in the Harry Potter universe, what would be your stance on Muggle-born wizards practicing magic?
I guess as long as they have magical abilities and can become productive witches/wizards in the wizarding community, I suppose they can practice magic…I mean, Hermione turned out pretty good…

16. What kind of qualities do you look for in a friend?
Loyalty and honesty. I need to know that you’re gonna stick by me and that you’re gonna be honest with me, because I’ll be loyal and honest to you. If I don’t feel I would be able to trust you, we’re not going to be anything more than acquaintances. I don’t think a true friendship can even exist without loyalty and honesty.

17. What is your favorite quote from the series and why?
One of them was a very old wizard who was wearing a long flowery nightgown. The other was clearly a Ministry wizard; he was holding out a pair of pinstriped trousers and almost crying with exasperation.
"Just put them on, Archie, there's a good chap. You can't walk around like that, the Muggle at the gate's already getting suspicious-"
"I bought this in a Muggle shop," said the old wizard stubbornly. "Muggles wear them."
"Muggle women wear them, Archie, not the men, they wear these," said the Ministry wizard, and he brandished the pinstriped trousers.
"I'm not putting them on," said old Archie in indignation. "I like a healthy breeze ‘round my privates, thanks.”
"Oh Professor look! I think I found an unaspected planet! Oooh, which one's that, Professor?"
"It is Uranus, my dear," said Professor Trelawney peering down at the chart.
"Can I have a look at Uranus too, Lavender?" said Ron.
"Wild!" he said, twiddling the replay knob on the side. I can make that old bloke down there pick his nose again ... and again ... and again. . ."
"Anyone can speak Troll," said Fred dismissively. "All you have to do is point and grunt."
They’re my favorite because I laughed SO HARD when I read them. Laughing is my favorite. :D

18. What is your favorite quote that is not related to Harry Potter and why?
“You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you, and never wish to be parted from you from this day on.” –Pride and Prejudice
Those are my favorite movies ever, and I absolutely love the quotes. I’m a sucker for romance. That quote gave me chills.

19. Who is one person, real or fictional, that inspires you and why?
I’m inspired by so many people; I can’t pick just one. I pick and choose qualities/traits that I admire about people and then use those as my inspirations to become a better person. However, my mom is one; she really has a lot of strength and she’s always there for me. She holds our family together and she gets us through rough times. She tries so hard to provide the best and she does a good job. I want to be as good of a mother as her someday.

20. List your top five priorities in life. Why are these things so important to you?
(1) Family and friends – they are my support and love. Without them, I wouldn’t be anything.
(2) Success – I strive to be successful at both school and work. I do not want to be a bum.
(3) Love – At some point in my life, I want to find someone to share the rest of it with.
(4) Go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Orlando. I’ve always wished that Harry Potter was real. And now he can be (sort of). :)
(5) Travel. I have wanted to travel so badly for so long. I can’t wait to see the world.

21. You see both a Muggle and a wizard in trouble. You have the chance to help only one. Would you help one of them or ignore the situation? If you chose to help one of them, which would you help and why?
I definitely would not ignore the situation; I don’t understand how I (or anyone else) could just walk by and not help a person who is in trouble. And I think I’d help the wizard. I’d feel a connection, so to speak, with them that I wouldn’t feel with the Muggle. BUT, assuming I’m an all-powerful witch, I would save them both, become as famous as Harry Potter, get an Order of Merlin, First Class, be on a Chocolate Frog card, the works.

22. Under what circumstances would you use an Unforgivable Curse?
To protect loved ones. Like, if Voldemort was on his way to kill me or my family or my friends, I’d have no problem using the Killing Curse on him. And it’d be wicked to use the Imperius Curse on archenemies. But I would NEVER use the Cruciatus Curse. EVER. It’s unfathomably terrible.

23. Under what circumstances would you work for Voldemort?
To be a spy for the good guys. Other than that, I’d rather die than work for him.

24. If you happened upon a Time Turner, how would you use it?
Probably like Hermione did. I think it’d be REALLY risky using it for anything else. I mean, there’s the whole getting caught thing which could lead to some pretty bad consequences, and if I mess with things that have already happened, the present time would be really messed up. So yeah, I’d only use it the way Hermione did. And if there was a way to use it for something else that wouldn’t have a huge risk factor, then I would use it.

25. Will you remain an active member of the community?
Yeah! I love all things Harry Potter and have been looking for an awesome HP community for a while, and this one seems pretty amazing :)

I debated between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, but finally settled with Gryffindor. I know you said you'd do well in Slytherin, however, I hardly see any Slytherin in you at all. You're intelligent and seem to like your studies, however, your focus on loving others and the people around you and your willingness to engage in danger for "the good guys" was more Gryffindor than Ravenclaw.

Hrm. I see more Gryffindor than I do Slytherin in you, honestly. The only thing that bothered me about your application is that it's Blaise Zabini, not Blaze Zambini. Misspelling characters' names is one of my pet hates.

Re: Gryffindor.
Ahh, sorry about that. Just goes to show I didn't even care for him enough to even remember how to spell his name. :]

I'm thinking the lions for you. I did get a few scales here and there, but from question 14 and on, it was all crimson & gold. You don't like Zabini despite the fact he appears for ... oh, 3 sentences out of the whole book? There are more unpleasant Slytherins, or even people. Quick to judge and hardpressed to forgive.. I'm thinking the towers for you.

Reasons stated. Some Puff, some Claw, -Slytherin fangirling-, all Gryffindor.

It's very good that you want to be here, because that's definitely where you belong. The fact that you are fiercely protective of people, enjoy silly humor, and don't want to change yourself speak loudly for being a Gryffindor. Welcome!

I honestly couldn't see you in any other house. Daring, nerve, chivalry... the works.

I saw pure snake in you, though I thought Ravenclaw at first.

I think you hit the nail on the head in saying that you're a Gryffindor. Although I also see a bit of 'Puff in there too.

While I definitely saw some Hufflepuff in you (especially in #16), it's clear that you care a great deal about your loved ones and want to protect them. You come across as a very confident Lion!

For most of the reasons stated above!
