1. What is/was your favorite subject in school and why?

History. One of the reasons I love history is that it focuses on the great people of this world – the people who started out as nobodies and ended up achieving the unachievable. It's amazing that even one person can have the power to change the world forever.

2. What would be your favorite subject at Hogwarts and why?

Defense Against the Dark Arts. Machiavelli once said, "Before all else, be armed." I think it's advice well worth heeding. If you are not prepared to face danger and difficulty, you will not succeed. In the worst case scenario, not being equipped with the proper spells means forfeiting your life to a more powerful wizard.

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I'd give myself a thinner, more athletic body.

4. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

I'd get rid of all the bad drivers. I fucking hate it when people cut me off. Bastards!

5. Which Harry Potter character can you relate to the most and why?

Harry. I haven't read past Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but from what I gathered about him in that book, he's moody and oftentimes angry. I, too, frequently get angry. There's always something I'm particularly furious about. The anger just builds and builds. And if push really comes to shove, I've got no problem with bringing it to a physical level. In Harry's case, he unleashes his anger by using an Unforgivable Curse on Bellatrix.

6. Which non-Harry Potter character can you relate to the most and why?

Achilles from the Iliad. Like Achilles, it's hard for me to gracefully accept an apology from someone who has wronged me. If someone messes with me, you can bet that I'll be holding a grudge for a long, long time.

7. Pick one quality from each of the four Houses that you possess and explain why.

Gryffindor — I tend to be awfully stubborn about things, especially when they concern change. I dislike change, and I try my best to maintain homeostasis in order to preserve a previously established standard. Sometimes I can be so unreasonably obstinate that it is difficult for me to admit when I am at fault.

Hufflepuff — I'm faithful. Although I never needlessly invest my loyalty in a person, I will never mistreat or abandon anyone to whom my loyalty and affections are already attached.

Ravenclaw — I value intellect and emphasize education. Some people are so insufferably stupid that I can't even stand to be in the same room with them.

Slytherin — I am unbelievably selfish. There's always something I want, and I don't care what I have to do in order to get it. Sometimes I get so caught up with my desires that I fail to consider others' feelings.

8. Which House do you think you belong in and why?

I don't mean to "push," but I honestly think that I belong in Slytherin. I'm fed up with self-righteous jerks who wear "Goodguy Badges." They're always prattling on about how much better they are than I am because they have the "moral high ground." Fuck them!

9. Which House do you feel you'll never belong in and why?

Hufflepuff. I'm not a very patient person. Nor am I a hard worker.

10. Which Harry Potter book do you like the best and why?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Umbridge amuses me. I absolutely loved reading about all the little tricks the twins play on her. The bitch got what she deserved.

11. Which Harry Potter movie do you like the best and why?

Again, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The special effects were amazing. I also really liked how the Department of Mysteries was depicted. But the best part by far was the wizard fight at the end.

12. What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?

I'd see myself as a successful person. I'd have lots of money, a nice house, and I'd have beaten all of my rivals in life.

13. If you came across a boggart, what would it transform into?

A large spider. Spiders scare the living daylights out of me. I don't think this one needs explaining.

14. Which Harry Potter character is your least favorite and why?

Draco Malfoy. He's thinks so highly of himself, but in reality he's just a spineless coward. He screams like a little girl when he sees Voldemort drinking a unicorn's blood in the Forbidden Forest. What a baby!

15. If you were in the Harry Potter universe, what would be your stance on Muggle-born wizards practicing magic?

I think Muggle-born wizards should be able to practice magic. Blood has nothing to do with the amount of power a wizard possesses. Even Voldemort, the arguably most capable and influential wizard before Harry, was a mere half-blood.

16. What qualities do you look for in a friend?

For the most part, my friends have to agree with me. My reason is that there are so many people who disagree with me and resent me, I can use all the support I can get. At the same time, however, I don't want my friends to be fawning parasites. Secondly, they must be intelligent and worldly-wise. The ignorant and stupid have no place in my circle of friends. Lastly and most importantly, there must loyalty and mutual respect among me and my friends.

17. What is your favorite quote from the series and why?

"And Crabbe, loosen your hold a little, if Longbottom suffocates it will mean a lot of tedious paperwork, and I am afraid I shall have to mention it on your reference if you ever apply for a job."
—Severus Snape

18. What is your favorite quote that is not related to Harry Potter and why?

"People are like dirt. They can either nourish you and help you grow as a person or they can stunt your growth and make you wilt and die."
—Plato

19. Who is one person, real or fictional, that inspires you and why?

Anton Szandor LaVey. He's one of the most misunderstood men in America. He said things no one else dared to say. He was brutally honest about everything he wrote of. He criticized worn-out systems and ideals. He hated stupid, irresponsible people and dedicated his life to exposing pomposity.

20. List your top five priorities in life. Why are these things so important to you?

To gain independence from my parents. I'm tired of depending on my parents to support my every need. I want to prove my worth by becoming self-sufficient.

To graduate from college. This will make it easier for me to get a good, well-paying job so I can support my lifestyle.

To love and be loved. I don't care about getting married, and I don't care if I love someone whom I shouldn't. I just want to love and be loved by someone special.

To move to London. I want to live in a nice city with a cosmopolitan vibe. It's rather clean and full of cultured people. I'd never grow tired of looking at all of the historical sites.

To see the world. Or rather the Old World. I want to bask in the reflected glory of kings, queens, and emperors past. I want to stand where religious and political leaders of the past have once stood.

21. You see both a Muggle and a wizard in trouble. You have the chance to help only one. Would you help one of them or ignore the situation? If you chose to help one of them, which one would you help and why?

The wizard. Muggles are so mundane, and they are far less useful than wizards.

22. Under what circumstances would you use an Unforgivable Curse?

In times of war or in self-defense. In war, there are no such things as fair and foul. It's either kill or be killed. In an extreme situation, I would use it if someone did something "unforgivable" to me. It's an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. This, however, would not happen often.

23. Under what circumstances would you work for Voldemort?

I feel bad for Voldemort. He came from a loveless union and was cruelly thrust into this world without proper parents to care for him. His mother died, and his own father abandoned him. But even so, I wouldn't work for him solely out of sympathy. Putting myself in the company of Voldemort and his Death Eaters would be an incredible risk. I'd probably turn to him if I had nothing or very little left to lose. I don't know. I suppose I'd rather fight with him than against him.

24. If you happened upon a Time Turner, how would you use it?

I wouldn't use it. Messing with history could have nasty consequences. I might accidentally kill myself! The only exception would be to save a loved one's life. But that person would have to be seriously special.

25. Will you remain an active member of the community?

I wouldn't have taken the time to fill this application out if I wasn't planning on being an active member.

Slytherin.
Well, seeing as I have known you for a several years, I'm pretty qualified to sort you. Others may say that you are pushing for Slytherin, however, I know you're not. You really are that determined, that ambitious, that Machiavellian. I do hope to see you sorted into my house.
